Supplements

Starting last week, I have been taking a supplement called Ginkgo Biloba. This supplement helps me focus and be locked in and more aware on what is going on around me. I feel like this supplement has helped me communicate more and be more motivated to get up and do things. Today I didn't take my Ginkgo and I had my worst day so far. All day I kept telling myself I felt off and I ultimately ended up having a terrible practice because I kept messing up my basic reads. My coach even asked me if I was okay because he said "You don't seem like yourself." I just got home to realize that this was the first day I didn't take this supplement since I started taking it. Now some people will say that it's a mind thing and I'm blaming this as the reason for my bad day. My question would be has this supplement started to take effect on me when I don't take it, or did I just have a bad day?

Shoulder Instability

The deeper we get into the season, the more my shoulder problems start to show. Since my Freshman year of college, I was diagnosed with shoulder instability where my shoulders often partially dislocate, also known as subluxation. Year after year I go through this problem where i've actually had surgery on my left rotator cuff and labrum, and my right shoulder just pops out often and builds tension in my traps. All season I was good until Cal U where my shoulder popped out the last play. Since this has happened every semester of my college football career, I wonder what is the source of my problem. Is it the way I train over the summer and during the season, is it my play style being hard or my shoulders, or is it just that football is a brutal sport? The root of this question comes from the same injuries every year and not really injuring any other body part.

Football Targeting Calls

After yesterdays game, Slippery Rock Vs Cal University of Pennsylvania, I want to talk about a popular targeting call that is becoming more commonly called in College and the NFL. Targeting is when the defensive player leads with the crown of the helmet and makes brutal contact with the offensive player, or when the defensive player makes contact above the neck at the head area. During the game, the official made a terrible call on Slippery rock's, Selvin Haynes where Selvin was going for the ball and incidentally hit the receiver in the head. A penalty was called and Selvin missed the rest of the first half and when the play was reviewed at halftime he was allowed to rejoin in the second half. This call is changing the way defensive players attack the ball, tackle, and rushes the QB which really gives the offense an advantage. Also most times a targeting call is called, the defensive player will miss the rest of the game and all of next game. My question would be is this too much...
